Saturday Night
Apr. 9th, 2005 11:01 pmI've been playing catch-up with "Numb3rs" today, so I'm only about three episodes behind now. I swear, I've gotten to the point where I almost never watch things when they air anymore. I'm still in love with this show... and Charlie is quickly becoming my new television crush.
rackham has been fiddling with one of the older computers we had stored out in the garage and managed to get our ancient tape drive to work. He's currently backing up some very old tapes (they have DOS apps on them!) to the hard drive so we can burn them to CD-ROM or DVD-ROM for future storage. This means my BBS will soon be on a more readily accessible medium! Not that I'll be able to do much with it, since I don't have a clue what my password was. (Hey, you try remembering your password from seven years ago!)
I keep missing birthdays... so, happy belated birthday to
cousinjean and
enigmaticblues! You two are both goddesses of fanfic and I'm so glad to have stumbled across you in this vast sea of bits and bytes.
I caught a bit of the Royal Wedding coverage today and have just one fairly shallow thing to say about it: I saw Sanjeev Bhaskar!!! Annoyingly, the camera didn't linger on him and the commentators didn't point him out like they did Rowan Atkinson, Stephen Fry, and Hugh Grant (who was, oddly enough, walking in with Meera Syal (I thought I'd read that she and Sanjeev were married)).
In organizing news, the Junk Room is starting to shape up nicely and the piles of stuff in the living room have been shrinking daily. Rackham was asking me earlier today where everything is going... since the Junk Room doesn't seem to be filling up like it used to. Rearranging that room has made a world of difference, and taking a huge load to the donation trailer hasn't hurt either. One piece of really good advice I picked up from "Mission: Organization" has definitely been paying off: If you want to donate something, put it out in your car... then you're sure to remember to drop it off eventually. It's worked like an absolute charm and it has the added benefit of getting the stuff out of the way in the house, right off the bat.
I can't wait to show it off to people who know what it used to look like!
