There are times when having lived through so many natural disasters really comes in handy.
There's been a water leak in our cul-de-sac for several weeks now... it's been kinda funky, because it reminded me, a bit, of some of the springs we had on our property when I was in high school... not actually flowing water, but enough of a trickle to see the path it's taking and for the ground to be wet. The water utility company came out right away and marked things up for digging.
Well, after about a week, a second "spring" appeared a few feet away from the first... and once again, the water company came out and marked the area, and a few more weeks passed. I'd actually planned to call them today, because the leaks were very obviously getting worse (to the point where we *could* see a bit of water flow). However, this morning they're finally out there digging up the cul-de-sac. A few weeks before the water leak appeared, the gas company was out digging up the street to fix a gas leak -- the water company guy told me he didn't think they were the ones who'd caused the water leak and that it had likely been building since our last earthquake, but it seems awfully coincidental to me.
Just a bit ago, one of the workers knocked on the door to let me know they had to shut off the water main to this street in order to do the repairs... and that it would likely be down for several hours. So, remembering my typhoon lessons, I filled up the bathtub and several pitchers. I've got bottled water for drinking... but not knowing exactly how long the water would be down, I figured I wanted plenty of water for toilet flushing.
As it is, I'm probaby going to see about borrowing a shower from someone, since I haven't gone to Curves yet, so I haven't felt a need to wash. Worse comes to worse, I can drive down the Redmond and use one of the showers at the Pro Club (which will be the first time I've gone there this year).
