Fill this out about your SENIOR year of high school!
The longer ago it was, the more fun the answers will be!!
1. Did you date someone from your school? No. The closest I came was going to the Junior/Senior Prom (yes, they were combined... there were only 90 people in my graduating class) with my best friend who was someone I was NOT interested in romantically. We had a lot of fun and got to say we went to our proms.
2. Did you marry someone from your high school? Um, no.
3. Did you car pool to school? Nope. I drove myself. I only lived about four miles from the school, so there was no one I could pick up along the way.
4. What kind of car did you have? My senior year? I had a 1982 Nissan 210... which replaced my 1970 Maverick from the previous year.
5. What kind of car do you have now? 2006 Hyundai Tucson
6. It's Friday night...where are you? (then): Getting off work and heading over to the house where several of my gaming friends lived (they were all in college at the time, I believe). We'd game almost all night and I'd often end up crashing there and then just heading straight to work in the morning.
7. It is Friday night...where are you? (now): Most likely at home, playing Lord of the Rings Online with mygaming group kinship late into the evening. In other words, it's not really all that different.
8. What kind of job did you have in high school? I worked about 30 hours a week at three different video stores (they were all part of a chain, but were managed by different people). Back in those days we rented and sold movies, rented and sold VCRs, rented and sold televisions... and we also sold and installed satellite systems. Oh, and during my senior year, one of the stores also added Take-and-Bake pizzas, so I got to learn how to do those too.
9. What kind of job do you do now? Freelance work of various types -- proofreading, web design, whatever comes up.
10. Were you a party animal? Not unless you count the activities of my various gaming groups and SF&F clubs.
11. Were you considered a flirt? I don't think so. Not any more than anyone else who was single and in the SF&F community at the time.
12. Were you in band, orchestra, or choir? Band and choir.
13. Were you a nerd? Oh yeah. Sadly, I couldn't afford my own computer (I spent too much money on books and going to conventions), but I always hung out with guys who were more than willing to let me use theirs.
14. Did you get suspended or expelled? LOL! Um, no.
15. Can you sing the fight song? I don't think we had a fight song. I know we played "On Wisconsin" quite a bit in the pep band.
16. Who was/were your favorite teacher? Probably Mr. McClure, my math teacher.
17. Where did you sit during lunch? Sometimes in the cafeteria. I got into a bad habit of not eating during my senior year, though... so I often spent that time sitting in the library and reading (it wasn't that I was trying to starve myself or anything, I'd just get wrapped up in other things and forget to eat).
18. What was your school's full name? Riverside High School
19. When did you graduate? 1987
20. What was your school mascot? The Rams
21. If you could go back and do it again, would you? Hmm. If I knew what I know now? Maybe. If not, well... no. High school wasn't a horrible experience for me or anything, it was just that I was ready to head to college after my Junior year and let the school counselor talk me out of it "for social reasons." And then I proceeded to pretty much just hang out with my college friends anyway.
22. Did you have fun at Prom? Yes. Although not *at* the Prom. I went with my best friend and we didn't spend much time at the dance... just goofing off all evening in formal clothes.
23. Do you still talk to the person you went to Prom with? You know, I really need to email him... it's been a little while since I last heard from him.
24. Are you planning on going to your next reunion? Yeah. I missed the last one because it was right before I was supposed to go in for shoulder surgery and right after I would have gotten back from Dragon*Con. I really wanted to have that time to get the house ready for my recuperation.
25. Do you still talk to people from school? Yes. There were several that I've kept in sporadic contact with over the years... it's gotten much better and much more consistent since we found each other on FaceBook.
