Eight Days of Happiness -- Day Seven
Dec. 22nd, 2008 10:47 pmDespite the deluge of snow (can snow be a deluge? The word "avalanche" seems too extreme), the Orem Fitness Center was open today! Yay! I had a membership there when we lived in Orem (about 13 years ago) and loved it then... and the best part about the place is the full-sized indoor track. It's a wonderful place to go walking when the weather outside is frightful and today was no exception. Plus, even though I'm not a member, I can still use the track for a mere $1.25 (or just $4 for access to the whole Fitness Center), so it's a nice affordable place to get a good workout, assuming the roads are passable enough to get there.
Other happy things for the day:
We got the last Christmas present we needed to buy. I'd still like to get some stocking stuffers, but they're not particularly vital.
Since we were here last, a Sunflower Farmer's Market opened in Orem. I'm in love. The store has an incredible inventory and really good prices. It also means I no longer need to haul food down with me when we come to visit. It always used to floor me that there were really no natural food stores in Utah Valley. Very weird.
I lost another 1.5 pounds last week, bringing me to a total of 64 pounds lost since the first of April! And that means only 12 more pounds to go until I can streak my hair electric purple again (it's been about eight years and I really miss it).
Okay, so this is more of a general update that happens to all be happy things, but it was too difficult to figure out which ones wouldn't get mentioned at all.

Date: 2008-12-23 06:23 pm (UTC)Well, the population has doubled again. Amazing to watch the open space get swallowed like a hurricane.
But with a natural foods store and a state university and an REI and commuter rail soon, I hope it might someday be liveable sprawl.
