Well, yesterday was a bit of an adventure. I rather like having a flight later in the day... it felt like I was able get nearly a day's worth of things done before we had to leave. We got to the airport early and settled down at our gate to wait... About an hour or so before our flight was supposed to leave, I wandered down to buy some bottled water and when I came back, there were about eight people lined up at the gate desk. Weird, I thought, but whatever... then about 20 minutes later I overheard the woman behind us on her cellphone talking about her flight being canceled. Uh oh. So, I turned to look at the desk and the line was snaking down the corridor. Great. I check the monitor and sure enough, our flight had been canceled. And nothing had been announced over the loudspeaker. When it comes down it, that's probably my biggest complaint about the whole thing... they did a lousy job of informing people about what was going on.

They'd orginally been reticketing people onto a flight to San Jose, but it got to a point where that flight was supposed to leave in ten minutes and the line still stretched down the hall, so they did the smart thing and told people to board using their current pass. Once again, though, the employees had very little information to give us (and there were some very irate passengers badgering them about it... the line got hung up for several minutes at one point by a woman who apparently thought that is she tortured and harangued the poor gate attendant enough he would finally relent and release the information she was seeking (because obviously he was just being mean and keeping it from her on purpose)).

We got to San Jose and were hustled down to another gate where we were boarded on a flight to Phoenix using our picture IDs as our boarding passes... that flight had been held for us and left half an hour after its scheduled departure time, about 25 minutes after we landed at the airport. I strongly suspect the reason for this shuffle was that they had a half full flight going from Seattle to Phoenix, a half full flight going from Seattle to San Jose and a half full flight going from San Jose to Phoenix. Even with all of that, we arrived in Phoenix only an hour late... but sheesh. I'm also really glad we called the car rental company during the brief time we had in San Jose... Ordinarily, they would have been closed by the time we got in, but the clerk stayed around since she knew we were due in.

In other news, I'm going to have to go walking a bit earlier in the morning while I'm here... I went out at about 10:30 today and it was HOT! Especially for exercising like that. So, so glad I brought water with me!

Okay, I was a little warm when I went out at lunch today, but I was wearing a heavy cotton western shirt with velvet yoke and long sleeves... *g*

Welcome to Phoenix!

LOL! Yeah, I know it's all a matter of perspective... but by the time I got done with my walk, I was a bit more overheated than I like to be. It was just a little to hot to be doing that sort of workout, at least for me!

Well, I must admit it took me YEARS to become acclimatized... *g*
