Earthquake!!

I was just typing up an update about the last two days, when it started here... it lasted for a good long time and was definitely more of a side-to-side type of shaker. According the USGS, initial estimates are that it was a 5.8, although it was centered about 20-25 miles away. It was the sort that tends to encourage a bit of seasickness, and the feeling after it's over that everything is still moving.

Fun! It's been ages since I've been in an earthquake... since I always seem to have just left the area when we have them back home.

I'm watching it all right now, though so far there are no reports of injuries

Hi there. I'm in Riverside County in Wildomar. We felt it really good here. My husband is very close to the epicenter, working. Haven't heard from him yet, but no reports of injuries or major damage.

We shook and rolled pretty good here. I love after shocks, but having felt any yet. :( eventhough there's been many of them.

Very cool! I had no idea you lived in this area!

Yeah, we haven't felt any of the aftershocks either, but we got a pretty good shake... sort of rolling at first, then a sharp jolt followed by a bit more rolling. Very funky, especially I do usually tend to miss these things (although I was in quite a few earthquakes as a child on Guam).

What city are you in? I'm California born and bred. Been through quite a few good earthquakes. This reminded me of the one in the 80's where the newscasters had ducked under the desks on live TV.

We're in Redlands right now... although we're just about to head out for Monterey (after that is Sacramento, then up into Oregon and finally home again -- but that's for the rest of the week).

We had one in Georgia back in 2001 or 2002. I thought a tree had hit my roof. Or that the quarry nearby had started early. It was a loud boom, and my house shook to its foundations. Later, I learned it was an earthquake.

Heee. Glad you enjoyed the rolling!
