Comic-Con Day 3
Jul. 26th, 2008 10:26 pmI only ended up working an hour and a half of my four hour shift today. I think when they were making up the schedules, they assumed that Saturday would be the busy day (not a completely illogical assumption to make), so there were four of us scheduled... and there really was no line. At one point, one of the folks in charge looked over at us and said "We really aren't going to need you guys this afternoon... go! Have fun!" So
rackham and I wandered off to have some lunch and see what panels we could get into.
We wanted to sit in on the "Chuck" panel, which was after the "Battlestar Galactica" panel in one of the large rooms... We figured we'd come back to the line after the BG folks had gotten seated, but ran into
cynthdiane on her way to the line and decided to go along with her. It worked out well, because we were among the last people to get into the room for the BG panel (for which I felt a bit bad, since neither of us watch the show... and there were people who *do* watch it who couldn't get in). It was a fun panel, though... making us realize that we probably should break out our BG DVDs and actually watch the show sometime soon. And being in the room put us in the perfect position to get some pretty decent seats for the "Chuck" panel.
What a fun group of people! Zachary Levi is a born comedian... he's got the wit and the timing, plus seems quite good at pratfalls. And, of course, the crowd went wild when Adam Baldwin took the stage... causing ZL to say, later, that the rest of them didn't even need to be there. AB could have simply walked out on stage and said anything and the crowd would have loved it. Heh. AB later mentioned that it's all in knowing the codewords (after claiming that Casey would name his favorite gun "Shiny," to the great approval of the crowd). They all seemed to get along really well (at various points, they even did imitations of each other). The clips they showed from the first few episodes looked incredible and now I really can't wait for the new season to start!
We stuck around for a bit of the "Fringe" panel, but since we'd missed the preview showing earlier in the weekend, it wasn't as interesting as it probably could have been. I mean, seeing JJ Abrams was kind of cool, but we didn't really know any of the actors or the characters, so it didn't mean much to us. We ended up ducking out about halfway through in order to meet up with Cynthdiane,
alsturan and one of their friends for dinner... a nice little Indian restaurant that actually served Chicken Balti! Mmmm.... looking forward to leftovers for breakfast.

Date: 2008-07-27 11:33 am (UTC)Until you consider that all the hot panels are on Saturday. People are either in line trying to get into panels, camped out in panel rooms, or in line getting autographs.
Exhibitors Hall is the *last* thing on their minds.
