"Alias" Season Finale
May. 24th, 2004 02:40 pmI missed the next to last episode during all of my travels... something I didn't realize until the confusion set in while watching the previouslies. So, after checking PanFandom and discovering they're still only up to Episode 19, I surfed out to the official website to read the summary for Episode 21 there and I was *still* confused by what was happening in last night's episode.
Not to say I didn't enjoy the episode, it just seemed to be a bit of a jumbled mess... like the end of the season caught them by surprise and they tried to cram in all of the plot points they'd missed along the way. It also didn't have the sort of extra zing I've come to expect from season finales (especially ones trying for a seven month cliffhanger).
They almost needed something more shocking... because we already know that Jack had done some experimenting on Syd when she was a child. I'd also lay long odds that when the episode was written not even Mr. Abrams knew what was on the papers Syd was reading... Or maybe I'm just cynical because of my Whedon experience. It's the way the scene was played though, that screams out to me "We don't know where we're going with this!"
On the plus side, we got to see Sark all covered in sexy wounds (though I could have done without seeing the actual torture... my arm still aches in sympathy). And am I the only person who still, briefly, flashes on "Tron" whenever someone says the name Sark?
