Tonight's Torchwood
Jan. 16th, 2008 06:20 pmEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!
Now that? Was FUN!
That's something I would like to see more often: JM in a role that was written by someone who *gets* what he's capable of and what he's good at (which Chris Chibnall apparently does). Because JM totally OWNED that character. And the camera, any time it was aimed in his direction.
He also had great chemistry with everyone he was in a scene with, especially JB.
Even better, the members of the Torchwood team were smart and, dare I say, likeable... and the plot was fun and fast. It's giving me a great deal of hope for the rest of the season. Plus I love that there are hints of a larger arc (in the form of the briefly mentioned "Gray"). That was something that was really missing in the first season.
However, if I were a Jack/Ianto shipper, I might be a little miffed at the fact that Jack asked out Ianto only after he found out Gwen was engaged (something that surprised me... not that she was engaged, but the 'ship-type vibes they were throwing out in that scene). But the Jack/Ianto scene was really quite sweet and fun...
ETA: Oh, yeah... and am I the only one who thinks JM got a bit of a thrill from saying the "Help me, Obi-Wan Kenobi" line? Didn't think so. ;-)
Now I can't wait for the Season 1 DVDs to be released here in the US... I decided to wait to buy them, since we're not all that far behind the UK with this one. But
rackham still hasn't seen the show at all, and he should probably watch the first season before starting in on the second. I'm almost tempted to tell him not to bother, because this is *so* much better.
In other news, I'm still sick. Stupid headcold. *kicks it*

I still wish they'd left Gwen where she was and I don't like Owen. But last night's episode made me happy.

Date: 2008-01-17 01:38 pm (UTC)This is a major achievement as I actually don't watch a lot of drama on TV at all, despite the BtVS love.
