EEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!

Now that? Was FUN!

That's something I would like to see more often: JM in a role that was written by someone who *gets* what he's capable of and what he's good at (which Chris Chibnall apparently does). Because JM totally OWNED that character. And the camera, any time it was aimed in his direction.

He also had great chemistry with everyone he was in a scene with, especially JB.

Even better, the members of the Torchwood team were smart and, dare I say, likeable... and the plot was fun and fast. It's giving me a great deal of hope for the rest of the season. Plus I love that there are hints of a larger arc (in the form of the briefly mentioned "Gray"). That was something that was really missing in the first season.

However, if I were a Jack/Ianto shipper, I might be a little miffed at the fact that Jack asked out Ianto only after he found out Gwen was engaged (something that surprised me... not that she was engaged, but the 'ship-type vibes they were throwing out in that scene). But the Jack/Ianto scene was really quite sweet and fun...

ETA: Oh, yeah... and am I the only one who thinks JM got a bit of a thrill from saying the "Help me, Obi-Wan Kenobi" line? Didn't think so. ;-)

Now I can't wait for the Season 1 DVDs to be released here in the US... I decided to wait to buy them, since we're not all that far behind the UK with this one. But [livejournal.com profile] rackham still hasn't seen the show at all, and he should probably watch the first season before starting in on the second. I'm almost tempted to tell him not to bother, because this is *so* much better.

In other news, I'm still sick. Stupid headcold. *kicks it*

Hello, fenchurche. I know I've seen you before, but I thought I'd stop by to say hello since LJ tells me you friended me today. I'm sorry to see that it may have all been just a mistake caused by spasming fingers during a coughing fit, but I will treat it as though you meant it. If you don't mind, I will friend you since you have, as I recall, said interesting things about different trips and things in the past and, I must admit, you watch and post about Torchwood and I have no cable or satellite (long story with many reasons --- rugged individual, paranoid loon, hater of The Bastard Comcast, time-waster extraordinaire, etc., etc.) With your help, I'll be able to get my Torchwood (well, my Capt. Jack and now JM) fix.

I hope you feel better very, very soon. Have you taken some Vitamin A and echinacea?

Hi! I was going to introduce myself over on your LJ at some point, too, after I'd gotten rid of all the cotton in my head. :-) I'd seen you around on other friends' LJs and realized the other day that I didn't have you friended and that we seemed to have a bit in common!

Not me. Not after she sat with him so long in the season finale.

Ah, that's right... it's been so long since I saw that episode that I'd forgotten about it completely. Last season was just so uneven with that sort of thing, anyway, with all of the characters.

"Bloody Torchwood!" - I loved that line. I thought it very encouraging that the opening worked so well even with the bit-part player, though I did wish they'd found a more threatening actor or better quality lines for the fish in teh living room scene.

You are so right about James owning that camera. Not just because he's so beautiful either. He is just so magnetic.

I still wish they'd left Gwen where she was and I don't like Owen. But last night's episode made me happy.

I got more of a romantic vibe off of Jack toward Gwen. Usually it's "Hi! Captain Jack Harkness! Want to have sex?" He's less sexual with Gwen. At the risk of being all woobifying, he's closer to her mentally and emotionally than physically.

I didn't watch the first season, but I actually watched last night's because the tailers looked fun. I only half watched because I was doing other things, but what I saw was fun, and may well tempt me back next week.

This is a major achievement as I actually don't watch a lot of drama on TV at all, despite the BtVS love.
