Enchanted in Ellensburg
Nov. 29th, 2007 11:40 pmGah! I haven't posted since before Thanksgiving! So much for my goal of updating consistently.
Well, the short version is that Thanksgiving was fantastic, we had a lot of fun with relatives we actually enjoy being around and hauled a ton of leftovers home with us that we finally finished off yesterday (the last bowl of turkey noodle soup and the last piece of turkey quiche).
Tomorrow I have another followup appointment with my orthopaedic surgeon in Colfax... and after watching the weather reports we decided to make the trek over Snoqualmie Pass this evening and stay the night in Ellensburg. The pass itself wasn't too bad, but that was pretty much the point of going when we did. In fact, the worst roads showed up after Cle Elum... but from what we've heard, everything is going to be nasty tomorrow morning, so we're still ahead of the game. And now we don't have to worry about getting over the pass and through the everpresent fog on the east side of the mountains while trying to beat the clock to make it in time for my appointment.
We got here early enough to have some time to kill, so we looked up the local movie schedules and decided to catch the last showing of "Enchanted." The only way I can think to describe it is absolutely delightful. It's a simple story, but a lot of fun. And, even better, we were the only people in the theater, so we could make all the comments we wanted (although we still kept whispering, out of habit).
And, finally, we've gotten to be such wimps about the weather... there's a layer of ice on everything here and an occasional snowflake drifting down to join the thin blanket already on the ground. And we're both bundled up like it's Antarctica and walking like we just learned how to use our legs. :-p
Oh well... I hear we're probably going to have a bit of this sort of stuff at home tomorrow night. Hopefully, it'll hold off until we're at least over the pass again!
