If you're a geekish packrat like we are, this is a seriously cool thing...
rackham and I are already planning on spending the next two evenings going through all the techie junk we've got in the garage and computer room and various closets around the house. Considering the fees normally charged for recycling computer equipment nowadays, "free" is a pretty good deal!
Free Electronics Recycling
On Saturday, November 17, 2007, from 9:00 A.M. until 3:00 P.M., Microsoft, Dell, and Intechra are joining together to offer greater Seattle-area residents free recycling of home electronic devices in celebration of America Recycles Day.
America Recycles Day is Thursday, November 15, 2007. Celebrating its 10th year, it has grown to include millions of Americans pledging to improve their recycling habits at home and work and to buy products made with recycled materials. America Recycles Day promotes the social, environmental, and economic benefits of recycling and encourages more people to work toward improving the environment.
The Greater Seattle e-Cycling Event is intended to raise awareness of responsible electronics recycling and its role in protecting our local environment as well as to provide consumers a free and responsible recycling option for equipment they may have stored at home. General public can drop off any make or model of computers and related equipment, including monitors, printers, scanners, keyboards, mice, laptops, gaming consoles, and mobile entertainment devices. The event will be located across from Safeco Field at the Safeco Parking Plaza on the corner of Occidental Drive and Edgar Martinez Way between 9:00 A.M. and 3:00 P.M.
