Websurfing in the dark
Oct. 18th, 2007 07:14 pmWell, just when I thought we might escape unscathed, the power went out... about an hour and a half ago. So, here I am... using my emergency backup dialup access on my laptop. In the dark.
You know it's not a good sign when you call the power company to report the outage and instead of getting the standard procedure of confirming your address and being told how many people in your area have also reported the outage, there's a generic "There's a big windstorm, lots of people don't have power. We have lots of crews primed and ready to go, as soon as the winds die down." It went on to say no one should expect any electricity restoration until after midnight.
Before nightfall, I went out and took a few pictures of the arbor thingy out on the side of our house... the one we'd been thinking of tearing down and replacing next spring and that Mother Nature has taken care of for us. I was going to link to them, but duh... they're on our webserver. The one that currently has no electricity. So, I'll have to post them later!!
