Okay, you know... that's just a little freaky.

They've been saying all morning that the storm was going to hit around 2:00 today. Well, as I mentioned earlier, it's been a little bit blustery around here most of the day... but I was up in the kitchen a few minutes ago when it HIT. And I mean, really hit. The wind pretty much slammed into the side of the house... and I looked at the clock. 2:00pm on the nose.

Good luck! I hope you have a lot less trouble than the ice storms of earlier this year.

One of my co-workers is in Vancouver, today. I had been going on and on telling her all about how wonderful Vancouver is. She e-mails me: "Lovely place, this Vancouver. When the wind isn't blowing 40mph and the rain isn't coming down full-bore, you can sometimes make out trees."

I hope it's not that bad for you.

Still, isn't modern meteorology amazing?

Heh, I just got back from a brief trip out myself and was impressed by the wind already. Plus, the top of one of the Shell overhangs was wobbling. A lot.

Have to ask: is your icon shot from Goldendale?

Julia, must load my due-west tricorn view of The Mountain- when you grow up in Yelm, everything else is "profile"

Late answer, sorry. I'm actually not sure which mountain it is, as the icon was made by [livejournal.com profile] miggy, but I always assumed it was Rainier.

Nice to know they get it right sometimes!

I hope you are nice and snug - listening to high wind, watching trees blowing about etc. is nice as long as you are snugly indoors.

It was a half-hour late here, as the original prediction was for 11:30am; see what I get for being south of you?

The worst thing at my house is that all the trees (big native oaks and a 100 year old apple orchard) are still full of leaves, so they're likely to lose branches.

Julia, also, I hate wind-storms so very much, really.

Do I hear "The Twilight Zone" theme?
Be careful and hunker down!
Mostly I love wind. Such majesty!
Too much is very scary, though.

Wow. It's now 4:30 here and still nothing, but I'm a bit spooked by your sudden slam experience. The wind was supposed to be SE and then swing later in the afternoon to SW, so I'm not sure if it's still coming or did it somehow miss us. Sure hope it doesn't appear after dark as it's a bit scary when you've got trees near your house. After the storms of last winter and all the trees coming down on houses, I think we all see trees differently. Is it still windy where you are?

According to the coverage out at the KOMO website (http://www.komotv.com/news/10605932.html) the storm is not behaving quite like expected... instead of heading up over the southern edge of Vancouver Island, it is heading mostly over the Olympic Peninsula. So you guys may escape the bulk of it. It's definitely still windy here, though so far we haven't lost power (yay!).

BTW, did I know you live in Vancouver? I'm thinking I must not have, since I didn't have you on my Northwest filter (which is mostly there for times like this, when I want to quickly check my "local" friendslist to make sure everyone is okay).

I used to live in Vancouver, but you probably didn't know as I'm pretty guarded about personal details online. Waving south at you;-) Yeah, weather reports here say the wind warnings are down so it seems to have petered out. A great big yay to that.
