A headline out at KING 5 News this morning:

"Bit pulls in Mount Baker attack to be euthanized."

Not a funny story, but I still couldn't help giggling at it.



And for a few more editorial errors... we have a small local (and free) weekly paper called the Kirkland Reporter. Just in doing a brief skim through last week's edition, I found one place where they spelled the word "beach" as "beack" and the headline "Dunn's death blaimed on blood clot."

Okay, forget needing a good proofreader/editor... do they not even bother using a spellchecker?!?! Sheesh.

ROFL! That's a good one. Right up there with "waddle & daub"! (Although I'm kinda embarassed to admit that I had to look twice to "see" the goof.)

I am SO damn tired of finding myself mentally copy-editing everything from newspapers to novels. I try to ignore stuff, but my brain keeps reminding me that the errors are there. And what I find truly frustrating and can't understand AT ALL is when older or "classic" novels are re-issued and suddenly are full of mistakes! Did someone think it was too easy just to copy what already existed? Aaaargh!

I'll shut up now. ;)

Right at this very moment, the washingtonpost.com front page is promoting a story in its Home section under the egregious headline:
Make the Bedroom a Warm Recluse

Um . . . unless they're passing along tips about how to turn your bedroom into an overheated small poisonous spider, or alternatively into a chamber that shuns human company, they presumably were striving for
