Tonight's Doctor Who
Jun. 30th, 2007 08:41 pmI just got done watching "Last of the Time Lords"
Well, that was some whacked out stuff... I did some serious eyerolling, which is never a good sign. However, I was very relieved when they at least made a small attempt at rationally explaining the Tinkerbell-style recovery of The Doctor (c'mon, clap your hands and say it with me "I *do* believe in Time Lords! I *do* believe in Time Lords!").
Yet even with the cracktasticness of the plot, it still had some tremendously good stuff! They set things up well for The Doctor to have a solo adventure over Christmas, but still pick Martha back up later... and I'm really quite hopeful that we'll get *this* Jack on Torchwood when that show comes back (rather than the broody one we had in the first season).
And speaking of Jack... rather clumsy lines for the big reveal. seriously... it made no sense in context and he may as well have been saying "Speaking of potatoes..." even though no one was. But now I really want to go back and rewatch all the old episodes with the Face of Boe.
As for The Master, I'm very sad to see John Simm go, because I think he did a tremendous job. I'm also going to miss the character, because he always brings out such interesting things in The Doctor... not that I think he's gone forever. And help me out, any of you other old-time Whovians out there... didn't we see a scene like that before? At the end of "The Deadly Assassin" maybe? It's been so long since I last watched the old series, I'm being a bit fuzzy on the details. Or maybe I'm just mixing it up with the ending of the 1980's Flash Gordon movie.
And now I'm off to FINALLY read through my flist, which I've been avoiding like the plague until I had a chance to see the show.

Date: 2007-07-01 06:31 am (UTC)I really hope Martha is back next season. She has been a perfect companion for Ten (really, better for Ten than Rose was - Rose was Nine's companion) and they work exceptionally well together.
