Today *is* Monday, isn't it?
Jan. 22nd, 2007 09:37 amNot Tuesday?
I'm asking because the garbage truck just trundled through the neighborhood. A day early.
Keep in mind that last week we got no garbage pick up at all (due to the extreme ice and snow). Now, if they're still planning to come by tomorrow, it won't bug me too much, but I highly doubt that's the case. So, they completely skipped one week and then came a day early without notifying anyone ahead of time so they could, oh... I don't know... actually put their garbage out to be picked up?
Grrr.
ETA: And here's what makes it even more annoying. From the Allied Waste Service website:
Customer Instructions for missed container collections:
If your Garbage was missed, please remove the containers from the street until your next regularly scheduled service day, then set out up to double the normal amount for no extra charge.
I *thought* I'd remembered hearing one of their representatives on the news telling people to bring their trashcans in. It makes the whole "coming a day early" thing even more mind-boggling.

Date: 2007-01-22 06:13 pm (UTC)I saw the story about the folks in Shoreline on the news... Sheesh. IIRC, there are some areas that haven't had yard waste pickup since the big windstorm last year. Waste Management has really screwed things up.

Date: 2007-01-22 06:21 pm (UTC)My neighborhood has really gotten white trash in the time we've lived here. This family on the corner is terrible. They have two bins overflowing with just garbage, not recycling or yard waste. How do you produce that much trash?
Of course, the crows have been having a field day.
Speaking of crows, yesterday I was driving through Kenmore and noticed this abundance of birds. I was sitting at that light in Lake Forest Park and five trees had probably 50 birds, each. There were more the farther I went. It was really creepy.

Date: 2007-01-22 06:32 pm (UTC)The lady at AW was actually really nice and helpful... and even offered to send out a crew to pick up our extra trash. I told her that wasn't really necessary, and instead she's got a note on our account that we'll have an extra can out next week that we shouldn't be charged for.
So, all's well that end's well... and it was just incredibly bad timing that the changeover happened the week after we were skipped.
