Belated holiday greetings!
Dec. 29th, 2006 09:45 pmGreetings from Boise! We're heading home and are making an overnight stop... thankfully, we seem to have timed everything just right to avoid storm fronts. Yay!
I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas!! I've tried to at least skim my flist from time to time, but it has seriously gotten away from me. Hopefully I haven't missed too much. Not long after we got to Utah, I began to enjoy a festive Christmas cold -- it still has me in its clutches and doesn't seem like it's willing to let go anytime soon.
I can actually trace this all the way back to the two and a half days we spent without electricity and sleeping in a house that was dipping down into the lower 40s at night. It settled fist into my lungs and has moved up to my sinuses (the exact opposite of the usual pattern).
I feel like my head and lungs are stuffed with cotton balls and my throat hurts from the sinuses being evil. As a result, I've spent a good deal of time sleeping over the last week, interspersed with a whole lot of coughing. And now, my nose is starting to get a bit chapped from all the tissue use. Ouch.
We got to visit
tomte and
gidgiddoni a couple of times, but other than that we missed seeing pretty much everyone we'd intended to visit. Even when I was awake, I really wasn't terribly good company what with the constant coughing and nose-blowing and ear-popping. Bleh.
I got some really cool things for Christmas this year, though of course my big gift from
rackham came back in November (we upgraded each others' computers). We got a bunch of neat cooking gadgets and cookbooks from various family members,
nmissi sent me my very first teapot as well as a few different varieties of red tea (my new favorite),
taradaktyl and her family really went overboard with all the gifties (and I now have a few more books to toss on my Teetering Pile when we get home), and
wildrider and
rahirah finished off our Great Big Sea collection with the two CDs we didn't have! I also got some virtual gifties from
rowanswhimsy and
eyesthatslay! Thank you everybody!!!
