Headless chicken stage achieved

I'm wrapping gifts like a madwoman...
We still have to pack, but at least I got the car washed and vacuumed today.
We decided to pass on experimenting with fun new recipes for dinner tonight, since we were pretty sure we wouldn't have time... so, the truly excellent chicken stock is in the freezer, ready to become matzo ball soup when we return from our trip.
Some idiot at PetSmart thought it would be clever to use cat litter to grit the sidewalk outside the store which, admittedly, will work... assuming you use cheap, old-style litter that will actually, you know, grit. Instead they used the new-fangled clumping kind, also known as CLAY. Yeah, so everywhere the stuff had gotten wet was actually MORE slippery (including the ramp for carts to get into the parking lot and to access the Disabled parking spots). *shakes head in amazement*
We really want to head out tomorrow, assuming we don't lose power again tonight due to the incoming windstorm. Or that the route doesn't get snowed out. And on top of everything we still need to do, the tickle I've been fighting in my lungs is becoming a full-blown annoyance (not yet up to actual illness, but it's trying hard), complete with a slight fever. Bleh. I hate my lungs.
