Oh the weather outside is frightful...
Nov. 21st, 2006 01:33 pmDespite my iron-clad yearly vow to not listen to any Christmas music until Thanksgiving, I've found myself humming and singing "Sleigh Ride" all morning... with interruptions of "Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow." I am taking some solace in the fact that I'm not *listening* to this stuff, I'm singing it. Or something. And, really, this sort of thing sometimes happens to me in the middle of summer, too. The weather really is pretty frightful, at the moment... very windy and rainy, so that may have something to do with it.
The new modem arrived yesterday and was completely plug-and-play... and suddenly we have happy, fast and consistent DSL again. Yay!!
Yesterday was also my weekly visit to the physical therapist. My previously broken shoulder is pretty much back to normal. It's still weak, but that's to be expected and is really the sort of thing I can work on by myself at the gym. My other shoulder is VERY slowly getting better. It's been layers upon layers -- when one problem is taken care of, it's revealing something else that's been underlying the issue the whole time. Recently, my PT and her boss gave it the once over and discovered I've got some ligament damage... and one of the ligaments in question apparently doesn't usually *get* damaged. My PT had never actually encountered the problem before (although her boss had, which is how she knew to check for it), though she'd read about it. Essentially, along with the other issues that have been dealt with, I've had some ligaments that are nicely inflamed and are pulling my AC joint out of whack. Since they've started treating the problem, I can actually occasionally raise my arm without the shoulder catching and popping. It's been a real relief!
We're getting geared up for the big day this week... since we're having
taradaktyl and her family over for Thanksgiving again this year. I picked up a turkey yesterday over at Trader Joe's (organic and free range -- it really does make for better turkey) as well as some organic canned pumpkin. I've also tracked down a decent looking pineapple, which I need to chop up later today to stick in the freezer (yeah, I know, why not just buy frozen pineapple... but really, it's not the same) to put in the fruit salad when I make it tomorrow. Still a lot more stuff to buy, though, before everything starts to pull together! Plus, I want to get the kitchen cleared out a bit more... so we have the maximum amount of counter space available!
Ooo... you know, it's probably time to do a Thanksgiving recipe post again, since the last one was done three years ago!
