Okay, I've never tried either. I'm always up for trying new apples and new cheese. Now I have to see if I can find 'em! (Although it makes me think of Granny Smith and Irish cheddar... which might be good enough...)
Cheap Honeycrisp apples are already being sold at our local family-run apple orchard. I never thought I'd find any apple I'd prefer over Gravenstein, but a good ripe Honeycrisp is a happy, happy thing.
Huntsman is sometimes labeled as "Double Gloucester with Stilton." It's a layered cheese. And it combines beautifully with the tart sweetness of Gravenstein apples. (Yeah, I really like this combination too.)
Oooh, you have to try Dubliner cheese if you haven't already. It's my new favorite -- a great combination of Cheddar and Parmesan flavors. Makes incredible mac & cheese.
I love the apples and cheese available at the Farmer's Market in the fall. All the old fashioned apple varieties you can't get in a store, and handmade cheeses, made in small batches from their own animanls.
And where else can you buy your apples from a best-selling author?
