We slept in and got to the con a bit later on Sunday ... but then, there wasn't much we really wanted to do that day. I ended up sitting through the presentation on "The Grudge 2" (hey, it was a nice air conditioned room), which was great fun though I still have no desire to see the movie. The director was there and although he didn't really speak English very well and had to use an interpreter, he was still quite funny... as were Amber Tamblyn and the other actress (I'm afraid I don't recall her name, and my convention program is packed up for the trip home). Actually, my favorite part was when the two actresses started talking about their favorite "horror" movies and got on a tangent about the movie "Tremors." They were both obviously big fans of the movie (it's one of my favorites, too) and I absolutely cracked up when the other actress started talking about "that scene where Remo is shooting at the graboid, when they're out on the rocks." I just loved the fact that she refered to Fred Ward as Remo. Hee!

We'd intended to go to the dessert restaurant that [livejournal.com profile] queenofattolia had recommended after we left the convention... but we ended up heading out when the floor closed, so the traffic was nasty. By the time we remembered we'd planned on stopping there first, we were already about 15 miles up the road. I guess that gives me something else to look forward to the next time I'm in San Diego!

On the drive back up north, we stopped off at [livejournal.com profile] blusurfer and Sir Dan's (is he not on LJ?) place for the post-con barbecue and had a blast talking about the weekend, all the stuff everyone had done, and the various tales of horror from dealing with the security people this year. In general, though, a good time was had by all... And in the category of really excellent news: [livejournal.com profile] jainamsolo and [livejournal.com profile] sirrogue's group won the award for Best Presentation at the Comic-Con masquerade!

On Monday, [livejournal.com profile] rackham's twin sister drove down from Redlands to pick me up from [livejournal.com profile] cynthdiane's place -- I was a bit sad to go, since I'd been having a wonderful time visiting her and her son. But hey, only three weeks until GenCon/JadeCon! Anyway, I'm visiting my sister-in-law and her family until I fly home tomorrow. It's unbelievably hot here... but, thankfully, they have air conditioning. I'm going to be so happy to be back to our 70°-ish weather back home. I keep telling people, there's a reason I live up near Seattle!

Hmmm... something I forgot to mention in earlier posts: I got to see Seth Green, twice, just walking around the convention (well, once was on the walkway between the Marriott and the convention center). Both times he was chatting excitedly with a friend and seemingly oblivious to all the people who were turning around to stare at him. The thing I found funniest was that both times I passed him, I could hear the conversations around me where people were explaining to clueless friends who he was. And every single one of them said "He played Oz on BtVS." (Honestly, I would have expected to hear references to Scott Evil.)

Fred Ward is Remo. All the way through 'Tremors' I was waiting for Chiun to show up.

It's funny how many famous and semi-famous people are just walking around the convention. Last year, I almost literally ran into Amber Benson several times.

Ha! We saw Seth Green all the time on the dealers' floor -- he was always looking for action figures. And yes, one year my nephews went up to him reverently, telling him that Scott Evil was one of their favorite film characters. He signed autographs for them and was really sweet.

Aw, sorry you didn't get to Karen Krasne! You would have loved it.

From what I know of Seth Green, I was not at all surprised to see him out shopping and enjoying the convention.

I'm sure I would have! I'd really wanted to go... especially after you mentioned the magic word: passionfruit. Mmmmm... passionfruit.

Someday I'll get to go to ComicCon. ::sigh:: It really sounds like my nirvana convention. I'm all about the pop culture!

Thanks for letting me live vicariously.

Hope you're home in relatively cool weather, now!
