Playing a bit of catch up
Has it only been a week and a half? Seems like longer for some reason...
What's been happening in my life? Well, I definitely had bronchitis. I went in to see the doctor on the 6th, at the insistence of my husband (I have a bad habit of just "living with" stuff like this, because it'll be gone by tomorrow. Really!). She listened to my lungs, looked a bit worried and gave me some cough medicine with codeine to hopefully help me sleep through the night, and an antibiotic with instructions to come back in two days if I didn't notice any improvement by then, so we could do some chest x-rays and start checking for possible pneumonia. Lovely. Fortunately, the antibiotic did the trick, though it still took nearly a week for the coughing to go away completely.
The cool part? Since I was last in the medical center, they've installed a wireless network... the doctor did all her entries on a Dell Axim, including the prescriptions... Neat!!
I've discovered that not only does my husband have a LiveJournal account (
rackham) he never told me about, but he's had it for about a year longer than I had mine! Okay, not that he's used it in a year and a half. The good part is that I've now got a page I can link to on LJ when I talk about him, and I've got a name I can use for him here as well!
I was really happy to break out of the coughing fits, just in time for the next event on the calendar, because Billy Idol is a freakin' Rock God! He was in Seattle on October 9th... the last stop on his latest tour. The man absolutely knows how to entertain a crowd and he's just rocketed to the number two slot of my list of People to See In Concert (right after Oingo Boingo). He's sex on a stick on stage, a fantastic performer (complete with Rock God posturing and posing that just makes everyone scream), and his voice is still incredible.
The band that opened was... um, I was going to say "extremely mediocre" but no, they were kinda bad. And loud. REALLY loud. In fact, so loud that they practically drove the audience out into the lobby (including Rackham and me)... loud enough that we really couldn't hear their music, if that makes sense. The women sitting in front of us commented, after the band was done, that they sure fit the adage "the worse the band, the louder they play." (Those ladies were quite fun -- about my mom's age and very chatty... and it was funny watching them whip out their binoculars when Billy Idol took off his shirt. Hee!)
And wow, leather pants don't leave a whole lot to the imagination, do they... Plus, Billy Idol may not be quite as defined as James Marsters, but they definitely have a similar body type, and those were definitely good arms to have. Oddly enough, I never really thought he was particularly hot when I was a teenager... I was thinking that night that he must have gotten better looking with age, but after perusing pictures on websites when I got home, I'm thinking it may have largely be an effect of the stunning charisma he has on stage (because he still doesn't do a lot for me when he's not prancing around, posing and singing).
Rackham estimated we were only about 25 feet from the stage (which is not too bad -- better than I thought it would be from the picture of the seating chart at the website). He also surprised me by knowing the words to at least one song I didn't
know (it was familiar, but not one I'd heard often).
More stuff to write about, but I'm gonna have to do it later... time to chat!
