Back in Eugene Oregon
But just for tonight... tomorrow we head over to Tillamook: Land of Cheese!!
This does mean my internet connectivity will be a bit more sporadic for the next few days. Hopefully I won't get too horribly far behind on my LJ reading!
On the drive down, I thought of an addendum to my last entry about vacation homes. It was like the whole concept suddenly snapped into place for me... and I also figured out why it hadn't before. It just occurred to me that if my parents didn't both live out in the country on some wonderful rural property... then that's exactly what I would want. As it is, I can go visit either of them any time I want, so it's sort of like I do have a "vacation home" of sorts, I'd just never thought of it in those terms before.
But if I didn't have the option of visiting parental units... yeah, I could see buying a small farmhouse somewhere, with meadows and a bit of forest (like the area north of Spokane or down in Northeastern Oregon -- in the mountains, but still farmland). The sort of place where I might even have some livestock, assuming there was someone nearby to care for things when I wasn't there. I'd just never really thought about it in those terms before, because it was already available to me in a different way.
