Whedonverse and Beyond event

So, is anyone on my flist planning on going to this?

I've been dithering about it recently and figure I should really make a decision sooner, rather than later, if I'm going to go through with it. I will admit, too, that it would really only be worth attending if I've got friends and acquaintances who are going to be there as well (seeing the actors is all well and good, but my favorite part of conventions is meeting up with friends).

*squints*

What the heck were you posting at 5:24 am?!?

When and where is the event?

Heh! Well, I woke up rather suddenly around 4:00 and realized pretty quickly I wasn't getting back to sleep any time soon. This sort of thing actually happens every few months, and I've learned to just go with it... I've apparently had enough sleep, so there's no point forcing the issue.

The Whedonverse and Beyond (http://www.alternateuniversepresents.com/) event will be July 8-10 in Sacramento, CA. It really isn't worth the money to me, if there aren't going to be a bunch of my friends there, though. I think I've already seen everyone who is going to be there (at least that I would want to see).

Still, it'd be fun... I could stay with my grandparents, so I wouldn't have to worry about getting a hotel room, and JM is saying now that he's not going to be doing very many cons in the future.

Um, for clarification... by "everyone who is going to be there" I, of course, am referring to the actors, not the attendees.

All the big events are on the other side of the continent from me. Le sigh.

I'd recommend avoiding this event. I admit that I'm biased (http://www.livejournal.com/users/rusty_halo/113498.html), but I do have good reason to believe that those folks couldn't put a decent con if their lives depended on it.

Ah! Thank you! You just made my decision a whole lot easier! :-)

Hmm... now the big decision: To SDCC or not to SDCC. Might have to wait for next year on that one, especially where I'm planning to go to GenCon in August. It'll also give me more of a head start in trying to find a roomie or two.
