All the cool kids are doing it
1. Total number of films I own on DVD/video:
A bit tricky... according to the database, we own 455 DVDs, but that's not counting the rather large collection of television series on DVD, nor does it count the movies we own on VHS or laserdisc. We've been slowly getting rid of both of the latter as we've replaced them on DVD... but some don't appear to be ever scheduled for release, so I'm guessing we'll always have a few tapes and laserdiscs around (i.e. the original, untampered Star Wars trilogy on LD, Disney's "Song of the South" on LD, Chuck Jones's adaptations from the Jungle Book on VHS).
ETA: Squee!!! I hadn't thought to check for the Chuck Jones movies on DVD recently, and they're out! And they're cheap! Especially at DeepDiscountDVD.
I feel I should add the reason we have so many: back before Netflix really caught on, we found that it was actually cheaper for us to buy a movie we were interested in than it was for us to rent it (after you throw in the initial rental cost and all the following late fees), and then we could watch the movie as many times as we wanted, whenever we wanted. We've just never gotten out of that habit.
2. The last film I bought:
I think it may have been "American Dreamer" or "National Treasure" or both, since I believe I may have picked them up at the same time. Which is rather amusing, because I noticed last night that "National Treasure" was co-written by Jim Kouf... who also co-wrote "American Dreamer" (as well as writing for and having a producer credit on AtS).
3. The last film I watched:
In the theatre, it was "Serenity" down in Sacramento.
At home on DVD, it was "National Treasure" (we watched it last night).
4. Five films that I watch a lot: (these aren't necessarily my favorite movies of all time or anything, just ones I like to put on when I want something in the background)
Groundhog Day, The Matrix, The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai: Across the Eighth Dimension, Buffy the Vampire Slayer (yes, the movie), and Fifth Element

Groundhog Day! That's one I didn't think of. It's on so often, I've never bought it. The kids even caught me watching it in Spanish one day.
