Addendum: TWO broken toes

Owie owie owie...

I don't know that I've ever been in this much pain. Last night was the kind of fun that's not... there's something about sharp shooting pain that makes it really tough to stay asleep.

And now... I can barely even hobble around. The toe next to the little toe is also swollen and hurts even worse than the one I thought was broken last night. That toe also seems to have some sort of bump on it now, too. Of course, we had them taped together last, since I thought it was the stable one. Beginning to think my decision to not go to the ER last night and wait to get in to my regular doctor today may not have been the best choice. Owie...

When I first got up this morning, it was bad enough that I nearly woke up [livejournal.com profile] rackham to take me to the ER. Then brief rationality kicked in and I realized that even if we went, I'd still likely get in to to see my doctor sooner, even with having to wait for her office to open and for a free appointment slot. Unless we were lucky and there wasn't anyone else at the ER.

Took some more Advil and I've now got ice on it, both of which seem to be calming the EXTREME STABBING PAIN. Sheesh. I'm being such a wimp about this... I had no clue broken bones hurt this much. And I just keep thinking of my mom after her accident last year, with six fractures in her spine, a broken sternum, and a crushed hand. I'm surprised she didn't demand to be completely doped up all the time.

All I know is that I definitely want crutches... even hobbling around, walking on the inside of my foot, is way too painful.

I broke my pinkie toe in college, and it hurt like hell. Sending you good, healing vibes (since I can't, you know, send drugs over the internet).

Get pain meds! Good ones. I hated them after the first couple of days when I temporarily crippled myself, but they were very necessary at first.

And, yes, to the crutches. You may be causing more damage without them. (Says the woman who walked on a multipli-fractured ankle for two days.)

Owwww! I broke my little toe a few years ago - unfortunately, there's very little they can do for that because there's nothing to tap it to :( I hope it's warm enough for you to wear sandals?

Owie! Yeah, anti-inflammatories (Advil and ice) are good. If it is broken, I've found that taking a bit extra of calcium supplements seemed to help with the rate of healing.

Last year, I think I broke one of the bones in the side of my foot, or bruised it severely because it was tender for almost two months. But it didn't affect my walking, and I didn't think they'd be able to do anything, so I just made it through.

I hope your doc can fix you up with some stronger pain meds!

That sounds like broken bones.

The girl that decided to fly home with a possibly broekn foot rather than try and work out the US medical sysyem says go to the hospital. Walking around on untreated broken feet bones hurt. I know.

Eep. I've never broken anything more important than a nail - it sounds very un-fun. Get thee to your doctor!

OUCH! Am wincing in sympathy. Hope you get good pain meds!

...owwwwwwww.

Best of luck with the doctor visit and the pain meds. *gentle hug*

I hope your doctor can set it so it isn't quite as painful. And give you some serious pain medication!

Then rent yourself some crutches from a pharmacy and resolve to stay off your feet as much as possible anyway.

I broker my 'baby' toe once. Very painful..so sorry you've found that out personally. I also broke my 'ring'toe(second in from the end)...jumped into swimming pool as a kid..my foot went one way, my toe the other...again, major ouching! Problem is that unless it's your 'big' toe, nothing much doctors can do. They just tell you to stay off your foot until it stops hurting...big help, not.

It sounds like it might be something a bit more serious than just a broken toe. I had an experience where I thought I had nothing more than a broken toe, where in reality, I had broken a bone in my foot as well as my toe.

I think it's doctor time, Fen. And get GOOOOOOD drugs for pain.

Oh no! May you heal fast.
