Ugh. I never should have let myself fall behind again. So, on Monday the 16th, I was back in Louisville, KY visiting

nmissi and ran out in the morning to see about finding some Geocaches in a new area, just to see a bit more of the city. I ended up going after an Earthcache and a Virtual that were right next to each other in Cave Hill Cemetery. I rather regret not taking more photos of the cemetery, itself, because it's absolutely gorgeous... but it was also REALLY hot and by the time I was done getting the info I needed for the two caches, I was ready to get back into my air conditioned car. I guess it will give me something to do the next time I'm there!

Anyway, I parked and walked down toward the pond and had the rather disconcerting experience of seeing several hundred geese surge out of the water toward me. Having been attacked by a goose as a child, I have a VERY healthy respect for their ability to pinch... but these guys were much more interested in finding out if I had food. Once it became clear I was empty-handed, they returned to doing whatever it is geese do to occupy their time. Although they did keep a watchful eye on me, just in case I suddenly started handing out something they could eat.

About five minutes later, they once again suddenly started to surge up the hill... I peeked around the trees and saw some women up by a bench, handing out feed corn to the crowds. So, I headed up there to chat for a bit and maybe get some more photos of the teeming masses and after a bit, started hearing something that sounded like cheeping. Looking around to see why in the world there would be chicks among all these geese, I realized the noise was coming from some rather gawky looking goslings at my feet! They were like the goose equivalent of awkward, acne-faced young teenagers. And yet, still cute!
