I'd always heard this works, but wasn't entirely sure about its effectiveness. Well, last year we had a problem with slugs pretty much eating our leafy greens down to the ground (even though they're in containers on our deck). So, this year we bought some copper tape and put it around the base of the pot with the lettuce and kale. And something weird has happened. We keep finding dead slugs around the container... about six inches or so away on all sides. We don't think they're being killed by the shock they get from the copper tape, but suspect they're too stupid to give up and end up either starving to death or dying in the sun. Either way, it seems to really be working... I just wasn't expecting to have to deal with slug corpses as a result!
