New hard drives!
Jan. 9th, 2014 10:26 pmOne of the definite advantages of building your own computer is that it's pretty darned easy to upgrade things piecemeal (well, except when there are fundamental architecture changes that mean swapping out nearly everything, but that thankfully doesn't happen too often). The processor and RAM were updated not too long ago, so we decided it was time to step it up with the hard drives... going to a 240GB SSD for the main drive and to a 2TB (which still just blows me away... I remember a time when one terabyte was essentially just theoretical) hard drive for the secondary. Oh, and we got spiffy new fans that are so quiet I keep thinking they must not be working. The old fans were having buzzing problems and, well, were over 15 years old (they came with our beautiful Lian Li cases).
rackham went first and upgraded his system yesterday, so today was my turn to actually turn the computer off (something that almost NEVER happens) and start taking things apart.
