fenchurch: (Fenchurch Place)
Well, I got a bit behind in posting photos this last weekend. Not exactly sure why, since I even had a bit of spare time when I could have done it and I just pushed it off until today.

So, we'll start with Friday, although I'll warn you to prepare to be bored. I bring you... The crack in the ceiling! )

Last week we were finally able to meet up with a local friend who had been looking to give away her pet fish... and since we've been talking about maybe getting fish again, I jumped at the chance. She said she'd give us the tank she'd bought for him and, well, I sort of assumed it would be one of those teeny, tiny ones people get for goldfish. Imagine my surprise when we got there to see a rather decent sized hexagonal tank! There was a rather cool "rock feature" in it as well as a bunch of fake plants and one live one! Also, a whole passel of little snails (I got the impression she'd started with just a few and, well, nature had taken its course).

We were bandying about names... I was trying to come up with fun Whedonverse names to go with the names of our cats, Zoƫ and Numfar. In particular, I was thinking of the characters playing by Jonathan Woodward (although at the time I couldn't recall his character's name from Firefly (it was Tracey)), so Knox or Holden. Rackham was rather keen on Perry (as in Perry the Platypus from Phineas & Ferb, a show we've only recently discovered), but I thought that was sort of bland. But then it hit me... Doofenshmirtz! Rackham loved it too and the name has stuck.

And a bonus photo of Doofenshmirtz, himself. )

On Sunday I was sitting at my computer when I heard a rather odd noise coming from behind me. It wasn't anything I'd remembered hearing before, although I was pretty certain it had to be Numfar getting into something. So, I got up to check it out... and couldn't see her anywhere. I was just about to shrug it off, when I suddenly spotted an eye and there she was... she'd somehow managed to crawl into the cloth farmyard playhouse (purchased from Ikea about 15 years ago and kept around to entertain the young children of visitors) and was just sitting there peeking out at the world. I'm rather glad I had a camera nearby so I could immortalize it, but I still have no idea what possessed her to even think about crawling in there... much less following through and doing it!

I spy with my little eye... )
