New Fireplace Project
Nov. 30th, 2010 12:19 amI don't remember if I've mentioned this here or not, but at least a few of you know that we've been working on replacing our fireplace. It was never something we particularly liked and a few years ago (during a three day power outage) we discovered that it also didn't work very well (it projected absolutely no heat into the room).
Well, after 12+ years of talking about it (essentially ever since we moved into the house), a few weeks ago we finally put money down on a new woodburning insert and, since they were going to be coming out to install it within a few weeks, the clock started ticking on tearing out the old surround and putting up something new!
Here are some photos of the progress so far! We're getting close to done. In fact, after several more rounds of sealant, some grouting and even more rounds of sealant, we should be able to light a fire in it! After that, it's just a matter of getting and installing a mantle. Sadly, that's probably not going to happen in time to hang our stockings on it this year... but I'm just so excited with how well the whole thing has turned out!
