fenchurch: (Fenchurch Place)
Norwescon was last weekend, but we only managed to make it for one day (next year, I'm planning ahead and getting a hotel room... if for no other reason than it will give us definite parking). It's funny, because when I was in high school, Norwescon was the BIG convention in the northwest... I mean, it was HUGE with a bit over 3,000 people attending (which it was, when you consider that most of the other cons I went to usually had under 500 attendees). This year, I'm guessing they had at least 2,500... and yet, it seemed wonderfully small and intimate compared to the type of cons I've been going to in recent years (GenCon, SDCC and Dragon*Con).

We definitely made the most of our one day at the con, even if we did end up skipping out on the dance. )

Everything I know about Dragonball, I learned from James Marsters. We went to see Dragonball Evolution last week and I realized that, while I had found it so cute to watch JM's inner fanboy bounce around in interviews, he had actually done a pretty good job of giving just enough information to his fanbase that we wouldn't be completely confused. Not going to be spoilery, so I'll just say that it was a surprisingly enjoyable movie and even with all the prosthetics and the electronically altered voice, JM still managed to shine through. I just wish we'd gotten to see more of his character.

Getting spoiled by all this sun. Sure, we've been getting our fair share of overcast, drizzly days... but the last few weeks have had a several brilliantly sunny days. I've taken full advantage of them by going on rather long walks and even starting in on some yardwork. The thing about living in an area with so many grey days is that when you finally get some sun, you REALLY appreciate it.

For updates on my friend Aaron, there's been a LiveJournal community set up to keep people up to date on his progress: [livejournal.com profile] allston_info. It sounds like he's doing pretty well and will hopefully get released from the hospital soon, although obviously his rehab is far from over. I wanted to thank everyone who lent their thoughts and prayers for him, and those who volunteered to donate blood in his name. It really is greatly appreciated.
