Spending time in Idaho...
Oct. 7th, 2008 10:22 pmI got into Idaho Falls early afternoon on Friday and was able to spring my grandma from the joint check my grandma out of the hospital and take her home. To say she was ecstatic to get out of there would be a *massive* understatement. I've been busy helping her around the house... and taking on a few projects while I'm at it, including cleaning out the guestroom. Part of my goal there was to create more space for my stay (and then my uncle's and then my dad's and then my aunt's), but also so that I could unearth my grandma's sewing machine... which is this wonderful old Bernina 730 that she bought new back in the early 1960s, I believe. It still works beautifully, and I've already started working on some Christmas present projects (and I hope to make a bit of a start on my Halloween costume before too long, as well).
I've also decided that from now on when I need to get major service done on my car, I'll just plan on coming to visit my grandmother and make an appointment with the Hyundai dealership here. I love the guys at our local one, but they're so busy you have to make appointments there about two weeks in advance... and they pretty much need to keep your car all day to do any work on it. The service department here could have gotten me in on Monday, but I made the appointment for today... and it took them an hour. I think I love them.
In other news... I swear, when my grandmother comes back after staying with my aunt for the winter, we're going to get her signed up for broadband of some sort. Dial-up *sucks* (plus having her on broadband means we should be able to remote assist her when she's having problems).
It's definitely Fall here, but the temperatures have still been getting up close to 70 every day and for the most part it's been delightfully sunny... however, it's also been WINDY. It generally starts up around this time of year and lasts until spring... making it extremely cold in the winter (when the temps are already 0 degrees or below). The really freaky part? We're supposed to have another day or two of those nice nearly-70 degree temperatures... and then on Saturday they're saying we could get snow!!! o_O I'm so glad I don't live here.
