Norwescon Again
Or perhaps I should relabel these, since I'm actually sticking pretty true to form for con-going... I went to no panels today and only took a very brief and cursory trip through the dealer's room to drool over everything. The entire day wound up being a long string of both planned and random encounters with friends...
I got to the con hotel in time for the Tai-Panroom party club meeting and finally got the meet
genebreshears and
miertam in person, and got introduced to
kehf,
dolphinchatter,
pencil_rain and a whole bunch of others I'm probably forgetting... I also got to meet
julesong again (we'd actually bumped into each other a few years back at a party thrown by mutual friends). While there I picked up copies of Tai-Pan #37 and #40, which I chose largely because those issues have stories or art by both
rahirah and
wildrider (though the universe, itself, looks like a lot of fun).
From the room party, we headed over to Denny's for dinner and had an absolute blast! This is really the best part of conventions for me... getting to meet people, hanging out and just talking about anything and everything. After dinner, I was making my way back to the con hotel when, once again, I bumped into Paul the Car Salesman and his wife... on their way out to their car to head home... and I ended up chatting with them for a bit, again.
I broke away to go meet up with
telaryn outside the hotel bar, which was completely packed, forcing us to retreat to the hotel cafe for dessert (and they had very yummy carrot cake!) We had a wonderful visit... and I'm so glad we had a chance to just sit and talk for a bit! Even if I was starting to fade out a bit toward the end (I'm afraid my energy level still hasn't quite returned to normal since the accident... it's extremely frustrating at times like this).
Then, throwing in a bit more of the random, my old college roommate happened to be walking by (she'd apparently been having dinner a little further back in the cafe) and came over to chat for a few minutes.
Finally, I ran into yet another old friend (the one I'd bumped into on Thursday that I hadn't seen for seven years) on my way out to the car.
Now... I'm going to resist the urge to watch the new Doctor Who (which just barely finished downloading), and head to bed. I suspect it'll be better when viewed without having to prop open my eyelids.
