Serenity! Non-spoilery
May. 6th, 2005 01:42 amFirst off, I got to meet up and see the movie with
marsterslady and
fenwic!! That's squee-worthy all by itself!
Joss's message to the audience right before the movie was a hoot... I know some folks on my flist are not huge fans of his, but he really does have a way with dialogue (even when he's speaking it himself) that really appeals to my sense of humor. Sadly, I don't recall the specifics of what he said, but I'm sure there's some enterprising fan out there who was smart enough to bring a notepad and pencil and will be posting a complete transcript within the next day or so.
Getting to the nitty gritty: yes, I would pay to see it again. And possibly again. Am I glad I went insane and drove 13+ hours to see it five months early? You bet.
It was a very intense movie and not really what I'd expected. I had a few problems with some of science fictional aspects, but some of those may be cleared up as the movie and the effects get a bit more polish.
There were characters I wanted to see more of, and a few where I wasn't sure why they were even there.
Hmm. Okay, being *this* circumspect about things is rather difficult, now that I've actually tried it. But considering I had about five hours of sleep last night after driving down to Eugene, OR -- and I drove another nine-ish hours today... I'm a bit knackered. So, that'll have to do, and I may post mildly spoilery thoughts later, after I've had a chance to catch up on some much needed shut-eye.
