You know, I've driven on worse roads through worse conditions... but not for seven hours straight! Yikes. I don't know if my hands and shoulders will ever relax. I'd really hoped Snoqualmie Pass would be the worst of it, but it just never, ever let up.
And really, it wasn't horrible, for the most part. It just went on and on and on... swirling and blowing snow, rugged icy bits on the road, icy bits falling from the sky, stupid drivers with no idea how to handle the weather. I almost stopped in Pendleton, Oregon... but it was still relatively early (6:30) and after talking with a few people there I found out that Meacham Pass wasn't awful yet and they were expecting the snow to fall all night. I figured I was better off pushing on to La Grande, where I have family, rather than risk getting stranded in Pendleton for a day or two.
Oh, and the real update... I'm on my way to Idaho Falls again. My grandmother is supposed to be getting released from the hospital on either Monday or Tuesday and needs to have someone there with her, at least at first. So, back I go. This time I'm hoping to find someplace I can go for broadband (hmmm... I wonder if they have a Borders yet), but at least I can satisfy my desire for Australian food while I'm there. Just in time, too... I'm nearly out of Minties.
