Snow Day!!!
Jan. 9th, 2005 08:47 amAfter all the dire predictions of massive amounts of snow for the last week, it's finally here!!
Technically, the region did get quite a bit of snow yesterday, in a rather funny way. We were watching the news and seeing all the coverage of snow... to the north of us, to the south, east and west. I'd look out the window and see overcast skies and green grass and trees. Then they showed us the Doppler radar (which, essentially, shows the areas with moisture). There was a huge blob covering the Puget Sound, except for this one tiny little pocket (and I do mean little) that was centered almost exactly over our house. Very, very weird.
Well, today, we're not immune... there's at least an inch out there already (ETA: make that three inches), which is a lot for this area, and it's still coming down and apparently there's a whole lot more in some of areas immediately surrounding us. Enough so, that they've canceled church. Yes, even church can have snow days. :-p
Of course, now I don't have a clue what we're going to do with all the cookies. Last night
rackham decided he wanted to try out the convection feature on our new oven, and made a huge batch of chocolate chip cookies from scratch... figuring we could have a few and take the rest with us today to give away at church. Now we've got a countertop full of cookies with nowhere to go except our own stomachs (not good!).
The new kitchen has been so much fun... we've both been doing a whole lot more cooking (I even made lasagna yesterday, from scratch). Rackham was home from work, sick, on Friday and after sleeping the morning away, channeled his illness fueled energies into installing the under-cabinet lighting. It's so freakin' cool. So, yeah, still big on the kitchen-love...
