fenchurch: (cats)
Really quick update before I head to bed... I've been posting more stuff over on the Kitchen Remodel page(s): http://www.eatough.net/Kitchen.htm

The cabinets and appliances arrived today (http://www.eatough.net/Kitchen4.htm) and the contractors began the installation... tomorrow should be more cabinet installations and possibly the flooring.

Also, to the gang who were in chat tonight: the stressed-out cat we had to practically pry out from behind the entertainment center has actually eaten now. I took one of the suggestions from chat and put her favorite food back in the "cave" where she's been hiding and she tucked right in. Even better, just a few minutes ago she wandered out of there for the first time today of her own free will and is sitting in the catbed next to my computer desk.

Brief explanation for those not in the know: Previously mellow cat (who has been getting more and more nervous as the years go by) has been totally freaked out by the remodel, to the point where she hasn't been eating and today she wedged herself as far back in the corner behind the entertainment center as she could get. I've been getting a bit worried about her... hoping she hasn't made herself sick from the stress. I'm thinking I can hold off on dragging her to the vet, since I really do think it's stress and that sort of a trip certainly wouldn't improve matters.

The really weird part is that we still think of the other cat, Cymry, as being high strung and stressed... and she's gotten more and more mellow in her old age. In fact, she's barely batted an eye at all the hubbub this last week... she seems to think it's interesting and is mostly happy because her food is now downstairs near the computers. In fact, she's eating better than ever, now that I think about it. Quite a contrast to the first time we imposed change on her (our first move when she was a kitten), when she hid under our bed where we couldn't reach her and growled like a Schnauzer, loudly, for several days.

Very relieved that Polly seems to be calming down a bit though.
