'Tis the Season

I realized a few minutes ago while chatting with tomte that it was already December 1st, and I'd once again forgotten to go looking for the Lego Advent Calendar this year. We managed to get one about four years ago and have missed them ever since (they tend to have a very limited run and they sell out fast).

Well, not this year. Sure, it's going to be a bit late, but it should arrive either late this week or early next week... because they still have the sets for sale at the Lego Online Store. Huzzah!!

If you've never seen one of these things, it's basically a box with small compartments for each day leading up to Christmas... with small holiday themed lego sets in each one. It's just... neat.

Kitchen Remodel

We started our kitchen remodel today (okay, technically we started it a day or so ago with the mad frantic emptying of cupboards) and it's really humming along. Check out the webpage I set up for recording the progress, and marvel at the now obliterated Uber-Ugly 1970s Kitchen. I'm so glad that stuff's gone. Seriously, I think the demolished kitchen with no ceiling, cupboards, or countertops looks better than the old one.

The cats are a bit rattled by all the changes... though surprisingly, Cymry (the uptight one) is pretty much taking it in stride. It's Polly (the normally calm one) who is totally freaking. She disappeared around Noon today and finally wandered out from her hiding spot somewhere in the house at around 9:00. She just doesn't deal with either change or loud noises very well.
