Wow, is it raining...
Oct. 20th, 2003 06:40 pmI know, I know... you're thinking "But Fen, you live near Seattle, of COURSE it's raining." Yeah, but it's never rained like this. After a fairly dry summer, we're finally getting dumped on, and as of 6:00pm we'd already exceeded the record by .35 inches... and it's still raining.

It's not too bad where we live, though the streets are absolutely horrible to drive on... lots of standing water. And down the hill from us, Juanita Creek started running over the road this morning. Fortunately, the closest bit of Juanita Creek is downhill from us enough that I don't think it'll be a problem, though I've still taken to checking some of the more vulnerable parts of the house for water (we have a daylight basement with only a small part of the house partially underground).
Also hoping it doesn't knock out power (it has in a few areas near here -- the water builds up too much in the transformers). It's a good night for hot chocolate and a book and maybe a fire in the fireplace we almost never use.
