Not driving home tomorrow

fenchurchWe've had a consultation with the family meteorologist (he's not actually a family member, but has been a family friend for about 40 years or so... he's the head meteorologist for a large organization in California and REALLY knows his stuff) and have decided to wait until the weekend. We have two windows of driving opportunity coming up, with the first being tomorrow and Thursday... the second being Saturday and Sunday. The former has the disadvantage of being over New Year's Eve and is also much more likely to have a bit of precipitation along the route. Now we'll just have to keep our fingers crossed that the weather patterns hold through the weekend.
Of course, Rackham's boss already told him that she'd rather see him return to work a bit late (he's due back from vacation on the 5th) than have him risk injury or death, so we figure we're good even if we end up sticking around here a bit longer. Although I must admit that I was looking forward to getting home. I miss my cats.
