Suggestions for things to see in Phoenix

Well, we're a day away from flying out to Phoenix (where did the time go, anyway?!?!? A week between trips is not nearly enough) and we're trying to come up with things to see and do there that won't take too much time. We've ruled out a drive to the Grand Canyon or to the meteor crater (those will have to wait for another visit) for that very reason. In fact, the only things we really have on the list so far are [livejournal.com profile] rahirah and [livejournal.com profile] wildrider's reception, visiting with [livejournal.com profile] rackham's aunt and going to P.B. Loco Cafe (they were featured on a Food Network show earlier this week which is how we even know about the place). We'll be getting there late Wednesday night and leaving Sunday afternoon... which gives us about three days to see the sights.

So, any ideas? Thoughts? Suggestions?

I'd add the Phoenix Zoo to the list, and the downtown area in general - here's a couple more sites: http://www.phoenixasap.com/historic-sites.html

Both the Phoenix Zoo and Wildlife World Zoo are awesome. Given my druthers, I'd hit the Phoenix Zoo, though. And there's a shop called Work of Artists (http://www.workofartists.com/) that's very very cool.

Ooooh, how have I missed the Work of Artists Gallery for so long?! I MUST GO NOW! Eeeeee!

My favorite place is the Mystery Castle. (http://phoenix.about.com/od/attractionsandevents/ss/mysterycastle.htm) It's even in town. There's also the Farm at South Mountain (http://www.thefarmatsouthmountain.com/) for a relaxing brunch. :-)

I just stumbled across a page talking about the Mystery Castle!! That is *totally* the sort of place we loved to visit... so it's going on the list!

Besides family, we only look forward to visiting Joe's Real BBQ (http://www.joesrealbbq.com/index.php) and Bookmans (http://www.bookmans.com/home.html).
