My real problem was Connecticut. I kept missing that I hadn't typed it in yet... since the states were all fairly close together there and were relying on those little lines, which were also fairly close together. I had one state left and I couldn't figure out *where* it was, so it took longer to come up with what it was, since it looked like I'd filled in everything. Very frustrating!
Oooo... that's actually kinda fun! But very funky. I'm going to have to pass that one along to my nieces and nephews... it'd be good practice for them!
My typing sucks. Well, I did manage to do it in 2 min 46 seconds on the second try, but the first try took nearly five minutes. By the time I figured out how to correctly spell some of the states, I lost my place and had to back up in the "Fifty Nifty" mneumonic song, and even then I wound up skipping three and had to squint at the map to figure out where. Got them all the second time, but... my typing still sucks.
I was able to name all the Canadian provinces in 1:15. ;P It would've been under 45 seconds if I hadn't forgotten New Brunswick (which I guess is like the Canadian New Jersey, since I, like so many others here, came up with NJ last on the U.S. quiz).
No, there wasn't a Canadian one. I just wrote them all down and then checked my answers on wikipedia. I like to show off my knowledge of Canada because our friends up north often say that we don't know anything about their country. When we're hanging out I start singing the Canadian national anthem, which really freaks them out.
Hee! I know the Canadian national anthem, but for a slightly odd reason. When I was in High School, we got a satellite dish (this was back in the days of the big ugly dishes, but we lived out in the country and it was the only way to get decent television reception) and one of the channels we were able to pick up was a feed for CBC... and they started their "day" every morning around 5:00, when I was getting ready for school.
So, I'd get up and set the dish for the CBC just in time to catch the national anthem... and then a rerun of the Muppet Show!
I should try quizzing myself on the provinces, although I'm betting I'd end up forgetting a really obvious one.

Date: 2007-10-12 10:00 am (UTC)I would have been faster if I could have seen where I'd missed one and not wasted 30 seconds. (That pesky New Jersey.)
Tricky test as it's also about how fast and well you can type. Mississippi and "north" kept tripping me up.
Quite impressed at your speed, given your current state. I bow to your greatness!
