Heroes Season Finale

I've said it before and it remained true through the entire season... this show just never fails to deliver.

I still need to read through my flist to see what other people thought... but for me? Wow.

Sure, we got a cliffhanger, but the finale was still incredibly satisfying on many levels... answering some questions, leaving others hanging, posing new ones. I might even go looking for "Heroes" fanfic this summer, rather than simply being content with the stuff I stumble upon.

So... the big question, did anyone other than Linderman die?

At the very least, Sylar lived long enough to pull himself into the sewer. It looked like DL was going to pull through, and I suspect Parkman will, as well. The big question marks, of course, are Peter and Nathan... or, more accurately, Nathan (since we already know that Peter can survive going nuclear). I'm wondering if we'll start next season thinking Nathan is dead, with all the characters believing that too, only to find out later that he managed to get Peter far enough away and then dropped him.

I'm guessing I'm not the only one who was asking "Why doesn't Peter just fly away?" when he started going nuclear... When I called [livejournal.com profile] rackham after the show was over he said, rather matter-of-factly, that we'd actually already seen Peter lose control of the nuclear ability and be completely unable to use any of his others. Which works, but I really wish they'd been a bit more obvious about it before the ending.

I'm still rather disappointed with the way Mama Petrelli is being portrayed now. She used to be brittle and brusque, but at least still likeable. Now she's just a manipulative, evil bitch. Yeah, disappointing.

I'm wondering who Molly will end up with next year. Mohinder? They actually work pretty well together. Or will she go with Niki, DL and Micah? Or possibly Parkman?

I love where they left Hiro! What a fun twist!

Overall, I'm just so totally in love with the comic-bookishness of it all, which is probably why I find the show so satisfying, and I hope they can keep it going next season. Wonderful stuff.

Now to go see what everyone else thought!

In other news, staying at a hotel in downtown LA? *Not* quiet.

OMG, you're in town! Let's get together! Do you have my cell phone number? If not, I'll email it to you.

Whee!

Heh! Yeah... I was wondering why I hadn't heard back from you about maybe getting together this week! :-)

I'm afraid I don't have your number anymore... I think it didn't make the transition from my old cellphone to my new one.

Definitely email me! I'm going to start getting really busy probably on Wednesday, but I can always work around things if I need to... and I'll be here for an extra day after the convention ends on Monday. The plan is to head out to my sister-in-law's place in Redlands on Tuesday. Mitch flies in on Wednesday and I think we're heading out to Las Vegas on Saturday.

Oh, sorry -- I'm only now shaking off the effects of the food poisoning I suffered through all last week and my mind still isn't functioning well. :( Will email with info, and you can tell me when you have time.

YAY.

I find myself feeling oddly let down by the finale, but that's probably because it means NO MORE "HEROES" FOR MONTHS!!!!!

I felt a little let down, too, but maybe it is just the feeling of "that's it? No more?" because I certainly enjoyed the whole edge-of-my-seatness of it! I'm very glad D.L. didn't die, and actually found myself even liking Nikki. And I'm very glad Nathan came through!

Linderman and what's-his-name, Eric Roberts' character. He was definitely dead. (And possibly Claude, although that happened offscreen, and I assume it because Sylar can turn invisible.)

Did he? I don't remember that... and I can't watch the episode again until I get home!

It was actually, I THINK episode before last, we see Sylar disappear (after he turns Ted into the FBI). Either that, or he just moved really fast. I'm hoping somehow it was the latter, since we really can't be sure just how many powers Sylar has gotten ahold of.

And I'm also assuming he got away...

I'm eager for the DVD release, so I can watch it all again in one big chunk!!!

Great finale, I even got a little teary eyed at the end. I'm hoping that Nathan pulls through as well and it will be interesting to see who will be back next Season.

I'm disappointed but not entirely surprised by Mrs. Petrelli - the writers do seem to have trouble writing female characters who are both strong and sympathetic. Most of the good female characters are passive, like Claire and Nikki, and the strong ones are villains. :P

I hope Nathan and Peter are dead, since there's nothing I dislike more than fake deaths, but it is a comic tradition.

Or they get killed off quickly, like Dale (the woman with super hearing.

That's the other main reason I think we may discover Nathan's alive after believing him to be dead. Peter, I never doubted we'd be seeing again... since they made it pretty plain that he'd survive the explosion.

I wondered why Peter didn't fly away on his own, too; it makes sense that he was too overwhelmed to manage that, though. But I also wondered why they didn't just try knocking him out, since that seemed to work just fine every other time he or Ted had trouble.
