Doctor Who: Smith and Jones

Oh, how I've missed this show... RTD and his team just keep on delivering, don't they?

The pacing on this one was perfect... even when they were introducing a whole new range of characters, we were never given a chance to be bored. And it's amazing how much of a snapshot we were given of Martha's family in just that brief amount of time.

Martha knocked my socks off... just as I'd been hoping. Smart, witty and resourceful. She's got a brain and she's not afraid to use it! I also liked that they wrote in an explanation for why we would have seen the actress in the final episodes of last season. Brilliant! Especially since they could have just ignored it like so often happens in the TV Land.

After taking a brief gander around LJ-land, I glad to see I'm not the only one who immediately thought of the Sontarans when we first saw the Judoon marching out of their ships!

Oh, Doctor Who, how I've missed you!

I loved it too.

And Martha ... I've deliberately not read ANYTHING so I loved how different she was from Rose ... and I loved the acknowledgement of Rose ... and ...

Definitely thought Sontarans. When I saw the first promo shots of them, I was disappointed because of the similarities, but they ended up being interesting anyway.

And Martha rocks just as much as I'd been hoping! She's going to be really good for him, I think.

I was very happy with it - not the greatest episode of all time, but a very good introduction and season opener. (Plus, foreshadowing, mark of quality literature!)
