And is it Monday yet?

Yeah, I'm still loving this show...

Missing these two episodes when they aired was just about the only bad part about being in England for the past two weeks... thankfully, I never had time for more than a light skimming of my flist, so it was fairly easy to avoid spoilers. But that does mean I've missed out on a lot of the discussions...

I hate cliffhangers.

Okay, maybe "hate" in the sense that I actually kind of like them. They're only this frustrating if they're good, and it does add marvelously to the suspense... but it sure makes seven days seem like a very long time.

I'm definitely liking how the writers are handling things. If they don't have the season plotted out already, they're doing a really good imitation of it!

Hiro remains my favorite... and while I think Current!Hiro is cute and huggable, Future!Hiro is actually kinda hot!

Still no sign of Leonard Roberts... he's got to show up eventually!

Nathan Petrelli is possibly the biggest jerk in the world. I didn't care for him much when he first showed up and now I think he deserves everything it looks like he's going to get.

And oooo... I like what it looks like they're doing with Peter. A really interesting gift!

Mohinder is still very pretty, but doesn't seem to have the brains needed to be the gifted geneticist he's being billed as.

Do we even have a name for Conviently!Helpful!Neighbor!Chick? 'Cause if we do, I completely missed it.

And another "ooooooooo" for Alter!Nikki's tattoo... I certainly wasn't expecting that! I did like that we got to see the transition and see Alter!Nikki take control. I'm also strongly suspecting, now, that she may be guilty of the things that her (ex)husband was accused of doing.

So, um, is it just me... or does it seem like it's a really good thing that Claire is indestructible considering how friggin' breakable she apparently is?

Now I'm really worried about Officer Matt... and wondering which one, Nikki or Nathan, is getting hauled away by the Creepazoid Squad (*pleasebeNathan*pleasebeNathan*). And just how are they finding all the "heroes" anyway?

The thing that's impressing me the most, though, is how the writers are weaving the web connecting everyone tighter and tighter while making it seem absolutely natural... the characters are obviously being drawn together, but so far nothing has been too far out of the realm of coincidental, aside from Hiro doing some time traveling -- and just how far in the future did he come from that he can speak English so well, with an American accent?

Did I mention I can't wait for Monday?

Question for you: Is it more valuable to have a US congressman in your pocket than a guy who can fly? This actually goes to both Nathan-related questions. The math for normals is simple: guy lends money to girl, uses money and child as leverage to put girl on street. guy sends girl to politician's bed, so that night with a prostitute can be guy's leverage against happily-married politician. There, it's all explainable in Godfather-y terms. (Although the girl was killed in Godfather 2, I believe.)

But politician can fly.

And girl can ... what exactly is the deal with Niki? Anyway, either way, Nathan's much more valuable on the outside than he is strapped to a bed with a creepy guy hovering over him.

And Claire? I'd accept the date-rape accidental driftwood thing a lot easier if it wasn't for the hit on the football field.

And I've spent some time looking up C!H!N!C's name, and I'm finding zilch so far. Am I right, though, in believing she's clearly a plant from glasses-guy?

Oh no! I hadn't totally thought that. But now she will forever be the object of suspicion. Maybe she's Sylar's daughter? Hmmm...

This show makes you paranoid about everyone!

Good point on why they wouldn't take Nathan... though we don't really know exactly what they're doing to people once they get them. Whether they've got a way of controlling them. And with that tattoo, I almost have to wonder if she's been taken before.

However, snatching Nikki would also create a good reason for Leonard Roberts's character to finally show up, so I think you may be right.

And Claire? I'd accept the date-rape accidental driftwood thing a lot easier if it wasn't for the hit on the football field.

Yeah, it seems like every time she turns around she's getting injured in ways that would have killed her if she didn't have her abilities.

And I've spent some time looking up C!H!N!C's name, and I'm finding zilch so far. Am I right, though, in believing she's clearly a plant from glasses-guy?

That's what I'm thinking... because she's been awfully convenient in her timing and not very forthcoming about herself (at least that we've seen on-screen). Also, she seemed extremely upset when she thought Mohinder had damaged the laptop with the research on it. So, either she's not well-written or well-acted, or we're supposed to be building up suspicions about her.

BTW, I don't know if I've said it before, but I *love* your icon!

Apparently IMDB thinks it's Eden MacKenzie. If they say so; I never heard it. I was probably too busy yelling at the TV when/if she said it. "Don't trust her, Mohinder! Can't you see the giant neon 'I'm a plant!' sign over her head?! You dumb genius!"

The interview that I read a couple of weeks ago is that the writers had planned an arc, one they could wrap up in 12 episodes if they weren't picked up but which could be extended to the full 22 if they were. So, yeah, they have a seasonal arc. The only question will be whether it messes up the pacing to extend it to a 22 ep arc.

I fear that the perfect English with an American accent was probably simply the result of the actor actually being American. There have been some TWOP complaints that his Japanese isn't great and can fall into an American accent (not that most of the American viewing audience would catch this.)

These Aren't Spoilers, but...

Have you been checking out the comic at
http://www.nbc.com/Heroes/novels/ ?

Each episode broadcast has an additional small 7 page comic [6 actually. The first page is an advertisement.] that extends the story a little. Each one adds a little more to the character development or the plot. While it's not in the television show it still is canon to the story line.

Nathan Petrelli is in chapter 3, and it casts him in a slightly better light. I don't know if it's enough to change your mind, though.

TV guide has a small article about heros, as well.

I studied Japanese for a couple years in college, and watched a LOT of anime, which makes me nothing close to an expert, but he seemed pretty fluid in his speech. But yeah, how would Average Joe U.S. know the difference. What's TWOP?

Did you happen to see the big katana hilt sticking up from Future!Hiro's back? :D

Thanks about the icon. I saw the pic and the framing was just natural.

And I looked up Leonard Roberts. I didn't know that was Forrest Gates! Yay! Forrest! Initiative in the house! Boo-yah!

Television Without Pity.

Imagine this forum, except with 1) enforcable rules about things such as spoiling and behavior, 2) entirely devoted to television and broken up into different shows, and 3) a much more aggressive tendency toward snark.

Basically, a overly self-important tv forum. You have to take everything they say with the knowledge that the site is A) full of itself B)Wanky as hell C)Always having to complain about something D) All of the above (*whisper*Pick D!*whisper*) :)

I just thought of this, so it's not well fleshed-out, but I wonder if there's some kind of destiny component -- like Claire was supposed to die but her powers are messing it up.

We've actually been thinking that about her since she first appeared in my house. Nobody trusts her.
