Backtracking a little, I got in to see an acupuncturist on Thursday. Why, oh why didn't I follow my instincts and go see him back in February or March? I haven't had a regular acupuncturist since we moved away from Utah, but I've always responded really well to treatments... so my PT referred me to the acupuncturist who works out of their clinic, thinking it would help with some of the lingering problems. Boy howdy! The difference was unbelievable! I woke up Friday morning feeling relatively pain-free and my shoulders were quite a bit looser than they had been in ages. I've also not needed to use Tylenol PM to stay asleep at night since then. I can't wait for my next appointment, since things are already starting to go back to the way they were before, at least a little. Sadly, it's more than a week away.

Saturday, we finally got a chance to go see POTC:DMC! The week it opened was the same week I was so incredibly sick down in Utah... and then we've just never managed to find the time since (at least not when we were both in town and available to go). Not terribly spoilery review: I enjoyed it, though I thought it was overly long. The 20 minute or so sequence on the island could have easily been excised without too much impact on the movie, except to make it a more tolerable length. The real problem, I guess, is the 30 minutes of commercials and previews before it ever started, meaning we got to sit in our seats for around three hours (something I don't do easily right now, which is probably why my shoulders started acting up again that day).

I also thought they went just a little too much for the gross-out factor. A little is good, but some of the stuff in there went beyond being disgusting and into being truly icky. It seemed a bit off the mark for the audience they're likely to get.

So many things looked like they came straight out of Monkey Island! In fact, Will is really beginning to look like Guybrush Threepwood... especially in the early Monkey Island games (you know, when they were good).

I almost didn't recognize Jack Davenport... but he was still kinda hot. Maybe it's just his voice that does it for me.

I can't wait for POTC:AWE!!!

We also caught the second episode of "Feasting on Asphalt" on FoodNetwork... I never did get around to posting about the first, but it does deserve mention. I'm really enjoying this series, if for no other reason than it's giving me ideas for places I'd like to visit... I'm also rather glad that it's only four episodes long, because I think the premise would quickly lose its luster. However, I'm really NOT looking forward to the final episode, where we apparently get to see Alton crash his motorcycle and break his clavicle. Because, ouch. Oh yeah... ouch. I'm a little too well acquainted with what that feels like, because just thinking about it makes me cringe.

Today, I finally checked the Sideshow Collectibles giftcard I got at Comic-Con! I hadn't remembered where I'd stuck it and I finally stumbled across it while starting the packing process for Gen-Con. I should explain that SideShow Collectibles was handing out gift cards to people who stopped by their booth at Comic-Con a few weeks ago... one per person and they were worth anywhere from $10 to $100 (with no way of knowing which was which until you checked the website). Well, mine ended up being worth a very respectable $75!! Squee!!!!! That's nearly two dolls worth of gift card... though, unfortunately, they're not valid to use with pre-orders (which means I'm unlikely to ever use them on a BtVS or AtS doll).

Oh yeah, and I had more physical therapy today. I love those guys, but I'm getting really sick of going.

Yay for feeling better!

I have to admit, either I blanked it or my tolerance level is high, because I don't remember anything particularly gross... (you don't have to remind me or anything... *g*)

We haven't watched the second episode of Feasting on Asphalt yet, since we went out Saturday night - I didn't realize it was during the filming he broke his clavicle. OUCH! No wonder it only went four episodes...!

There was definitely too much going on, and they could have cut several chase scenes to the movie's benefit. Too bad director's cuts are never shorter...

I had another entry about this, but the scene with Elizabeth and Jack on deck of the ship? Where he talks about her being attracted to the dark side of things and she counters with how, essentially, he gets off on doing the right thing... instantly brought to mind that scene from "Necessary Evils" (although, obviously, I had a brain cloud when it came to remembering which fic it was in -- just that I'd always loved that scene).

Now I want to read NE again!
