Anyone in Minneapolis?

I've got some hefty layovers in Minneapolis next month on my way out to visit nmissi and to go to GenCon/JadeCon -- 3.5 hours on August 9th and 2.5 hours on August 16th. I can't remember if I know anyone in that city though, particularly anyone who might be interested in meeting up and hanging out somewhere near the airport for a bit, so I'm not stranded there for the entire time.

At least this time I've got a very slim chance of being stranded there overnight. I nearly got stuck in Atlanta on the way home from GenCon one year -- if I'd been about five seconds slower in running through the terminal, I would have missed my flight (my flight in had arrived ten minutes after the departing flight was supposed to leave), and one year the airline wound up paying for a hotel room in Cincinnati when my flight out of Louisville got delayed to the point that we took off after my connecting flight had already left. So, I tend to err a bit more on having extra time when it comes to this particular route (plus carry the necessities in my carryon -- since the Cincinnati layover left me with my cellphone and laptop, but no way to charge them up).

I'm in Minneapolis. :) But since those are Wednesdays, and I do need to work, I could only meet up if we're talking evening...

Oh man... I hadn't even considered that. Yeah, it's going to be smackdab in the middle of the day (around 2:00 for the first layover and around 3:00 for the second). Ah, well... at least it looks like the airport has Wi-Fi. With internet access, you're never alone! :-)

Let's play it by ear. I usually leave work at 3:30, so maybe if it's quiet on the 9th I can slip out a little early. If you wanna email me your flight details and your cell phone number, we'll see what's possible.

And this is what I get for putting off replying to things... I got so busy with the scramble of getting ready I forgot to do anything at all.

I'm actually at the airport right now... my flight landed around 3:30 (which means it probably would have worked perfectly if I'd been more on the ball) and my flight out is at 7:30.

On the 16th, I'll be arriving at 2:45 and leaving at 5:25, so not nearly as long on the ground -- though hopefully long enough that it'll make up for any delays out of Louisville... I've missed connecting flights out of there before.

Thankfully, they have wi-fi access here for a reasonable price, so I could at least get online to let you know I was an idiot for not getting back to you sooner. :-p

Transit time being what it is, I doubt I could make it down there in time for us to actually go anywhere tonight. And you'll barely have an hour of downtime on the way back; not enough time to go to the Mall of America or something. :P

I'm going to be up in Utah on the 11 and 12 of August for a family reunion. Is there any way I can get ahold of Rebecca. I'd like to say hi if she has the time.
