13 May - Garden planted
On Tuesday, I finally got around to actually planting the things we bought over the weekend. We still haven't figured out where we might want to try to build gardenspace in the yard (or even if it's a good idea, considering the number of deer who like to hang out here and the rabbits we know are living in the yard somewhere).
We started doing this a bit at the last house, which worked well when we moved, because we were able to just take our garden with us for the most part (although I do miss my raised beds and my blueberries and raspberries). The sticks under the pots are just temporary... we bought some rubber feet that we need to slip under them, but wanted to make sure we had good drainage until then.

In case anyone is curious... from left to right: In the wooden trough-style planter you can see one of the strawberry plants we brought with us. We're actually thinking of transplanting those into the hillside and seeing if we can get them to spread (last fall they were putting out runners like crazy, so I'm hoping for the same thing this year).
The first pot has some Tappy's Heritage tomatoes, the second pot is cucumbers and the third pot is mint. I didn't actually have to plant mint... that's what came up again this year (and I believe this is the fifth or sixth year I've raised mint in that pot... there's a reason you don't plant mint in the yard here). On the other side of that are two Stupice tomatoes. Then on the right side is a pot with greens (some lettuce and kale) with oregano to the right of that. The white pot has some heather in it that I'll probably plant in the ground at some point (it looked really good next to the door at our old place, which is why it's in a container).
Behind me are some more herbs, plus a few more things that still need to be planted: Harbinger tomatoes (we absolutely could not pass them up with that name) and some peppers.
