rackham has always had the habit, in his sleep, of flopping a hand over to the middle of the bed. Back when we were first married and only had a double-size, that meant his hand often ended up in my face (something guaranteed to make a person just a tad cranky... it's not the best way to wake up in the middle of the night). It was even a bit of a problem with a Queen-size bed... but with a King? We were able to put an extra pillow between our pillows and his hand flops there quite nicely in the middle of the night. When we got Zoë, she quickly adopted that pillow as her own... since it came with the added perk of having Rackham's hand flop on her in the middle of the night (seriously, I've woken up because she started purring so loudly). Even better is when she can sleep with her head on his hand.

As much as she loves me, Rackham really is her person and she's never so contented as when she's cuddled up next to him or, at the very least, is touching him in her sleep. I did, btw, get Rackham's permission before posting this, since you can see him asleep in the background (and despite what movies, books and fanfic would have you believe... sleeping people rarely look their best).

Anyway, I snapped this with my cellphone and thought it was too cute not to share. Plus, I thought

corellian_sugar would probably enjoy seeing a photo of Zoë (since she's the reason Zoë ended up in our lives in the first place).

And so, yeah, if you haven't guessed already... I'm going to try to do the photo a day thing again this year. I'm playing a bit fast and loose with the rules though, since yesterday's photos were all taken around Christmas-time (but they were all taken by me and were pertinent to what I wanted to talk about). For the most part, though, I'm going to try to come up with a photo from the day in question.
